Students will be required to respond to questions based on the
set works. Questions will be set on all four of the Areas of Study.
The paper will be in two sections: Section A: eight
compulsory questions from the set works that will be played on a CD during the
examination (68 marks); Section B: one question from two optional questions on
the set works, requiring extended writing (12 marks).
Students will study the way in which sound is organised
through relevant musical elements, devices, instrumental resources, tonalities,
structures, notations and contextual influences.
